A family of four living in 800 square feet needed more room. But they loved the sense of closeness they had developed from living so compactly and cherished their ability to use the rest of their property as their living room.
With the house situated in the back of its lot, we expanded to the front, adding just one upstairs bedroom and bathroom while retaining the home's coziness. To empower more connection to the front yard living room, we installed an airplane-hanger-like glass door that opens up the eating space and transforms into an awning.
